The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has officially ended its strike after a successful meeting with government representatives.

The decision was made following discussions with the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Friday, July 12, 2024.

In a statement, CLOGSAG highlighted the commitment from both parties to address unresolved issues regarding the salary structure for civil service and local government staff.

“The Government of Ghana, represented by the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), and CLOGSAG met on July 12, 2024, to demonstrate their dedication to resolving pertinent salary structure issues,” the statement read.

The government has assured CLOGSAG that the finalisation of the salary structure process will be completed by October 31, 2024, with implementation set for January 1, 2025.

This assurance played a key role in CLOGSAG’s decision to end the strike.

As a result of the agreement, CLOGSAG has called off the strike with immediate effect.

The association expressed optimism that the resolution of these issues will enhance the working conditions and morale of civil and local government staff across the country.
