Leyden Educational Foundation in collaboration with DSP&Sons has commissioned an ultra-modern computer lab for Akyem Dwenase in the Denkyembour District of the Eastern Region to improve ICT skills in the community.
The Computers were installed to enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), English, Mathematics, and Science in the Akyem Dwenase. The facility will benefit over 5,000 children from the host Akyem Dwenase D/A Basic School and other surrounding schools.
Commissioning the project, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the DSP&Sons, Mr Derrick Asante said this is part of their responsibility to support the community to get access to improve ICT in the community.
Mr Asante said the Computer lab forms part of the broader vision of the foundation initiative to intensify ICT education in the community as well as encourage others to play their part to develop the community.
According to him, he was born and bred at Akyem Dwenase and gladly said it was good to be back home. He called on the pupils to make the use of technology a necessity and utilize the skills obtained.
He added that the Foundation would continue to offer the needed support to ensure that every child is not deprived of his right to education, no matter their location.
The handing-over ceremony brought personalities together including the Chiefs and Elders of the community, the Education Directorate in the District, scholars, students, and the entire community.
However, the Headmistress of the Akyem Dwenase D/A Basic School, Francisca Annor expressed appreciation to the Leyden Educational Foundation and DSP&Sons team for commissioning ICT to the community.
The Headmistress thanked the CEO of DSP&Sons, Mr Derrick Asante for his support and vision for education in the Community.
Moreover, the entire Community as well as the students in the Akyem Dwenase also extended their heartfelt gratitude to the DSP&Sons for their support to improve ICT in the community.
