Aide to former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, is pleading with current President Muhammadu Buhari to not call players of the Super Eagles before the Ghana game in Kumasi.
The President’s last call before a competitive game ended in defeat for Nigeria. Buhari called the team before their round of 16 clash against Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations, which they lost.
And ahead of Friday’s game, the socio-political activist took to Twitter to beg the President, urging him to rather call the Ghanaian team.
“Dear General Buhari,” he posted.
“The only appeal I make to you as Nigeria is set to face Ghana in a World Cup qualifier is please do NOT call the Super Eagles.
“Whether video or audio call, please, please, and please, do NOT call. If you want to call, I can get you the number of the Black Stars of Ghana.
“In the spirit of West African brotherhood, you may wish to call them to ‘inspire them’.”
Nigeria are expected to touch down on Thursday and will also hold a mandatory training that same day before Friday’s game.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars held their first training at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Tuesday and will have two sessions on Wednesday.
Ghana will host the Super Eagles on March 25, 2022 in the first leg of their double header before travelling to the Mashood Abiola stadium four days later for the second leg.
