Former Deputy Minister of Education and current outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Abuakwa North, Gifty Twum Ampofo, has expressed her strong conviction that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will break the eight-year cycle and secure victory in this year’s general elections.
According to her, the NPP government has achieved enough to merit another term in office, ensuring continuity in governance.
Despite the economic difficulties facing Ghanaians, including the high cost of living and elevated unemployment rates, particularly among the youth, Twum Ampofo remains optimistic about the NPP’s prospects.
She emphasized that countries that have seen recent development did not change their governments every eight years, suggesting the need for the NPP to stay in power beyond the traditional two-term limit.
In an interview with Don Kwabena Prah Jnr on Hot 93.9 FM’s Morning Drive, Twum Ampofo reiterated her hopefulness for the party’s success and called for unity among parliamentary candidates and their supporters as the elections approach.
She stressed the importance of cohesion within the party to ensure a strong showing at the polls.
Twum-Ampofo’s bid for re-election ended in defeat, as she received 202 votes in the January NPP primaries, falling short to Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong, also known as Buffalo, who won with 222 votes.
