A heated debate flared up live on Accra-based Hot 93.9FM as well-known stand-up comedian DKB and rising rapper V12 Origenator clashed over V12’s controversial “Tonga” music video.
The “Tonga” music video, filmed in the US, has been a hot topic since its release a few weeks ago.
Featuring bright visuals and vibrant video vixens, the video is designed with two well-coordinated scenes that tell the song’s story. However, its explicit content has sparked considerable controversy on social media, dividing entertainment personalities.
Social media personality Code Micky has publicly supported the video, praising V12 Origenator as a great rapper and encouraging public support.
DKB, on the other hand, holds a strong opposing view. In a viral video, the celebrated Comedian called for the music video to be banned. During an interview on Hot FM’s “Ay3 HU,” DKB didn’t hold back by labeling V12 Origenator a “Porno” artiste.
He argued that as a new and talented rapper, V12 shouldn’t follow in the footsteps of artistes like Lord Paper, whose career, according to DKB, suffered due to sexually explicit videos.
“As a new artiste and a talented rapper, you have to focus on producing ‘Porno free contents…this is what Lord Paper did and now his career has dipped”. DKB said
V12 Origenator, who joined the show by phone, swiftly responded to DKB’s criticism. He asserted that he wouldn’t “flop” like Lord Paper. He explained that the “Tonga” music video merely depicted the song’s lyrics
To further accentuate his point and diffuse the tension, the “TONGA” rapper revealed astonishingly that his next song might even be Gospel.
