Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, a research firm, has clarified that his projection of a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in Ghana’s 2024 elections is a prediction based on data analysis, not a traditional opinion poll.
This follows the firm’s latest forecast that Mahama will secure 52.2% of the vote, surpassing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is projected to receive 41.4%. Other contenders, including Alan Kyerematen and independent candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, are expected to garner 2.5% and 3.0%, respectively, while minor candidates collectively account for 0.9%.
Speaking on Dwene Ho Biom, Dankwah emphasized the distinction between polls and predictions.
“Polls show a snapshot of opinions, but predictions analyze these trends to determine outcomes,” he explained. He noted that his forecast incorporates data from all regions and reflects pressing national concerns such as unemployment, inflation, and economic hardships.
Dankwah expressed confidence in the robustness of his analysis, stating, “No matter what happens, the prediction remains the same—Mahama will come first in the 2024 elections. The trends are clear, and they reflect what Ghanaians care about.”
According to the firm’s data, voter turnout is expected to average 77.6%, with regional variations playing a significant role in the final results. This projection highlights the key issues driving voter preferences as the December 7 election approaches.
