Customers of the defunct gold dealership Menzgold, on September 12, submitted a petition to President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
Their appeal is centered on securing the release of their locked-up investments, which have remained inaccessible since the company’s collapse.
The customers, many of whom are facing financial hardships, are seeking urgent presidential intervention to recover their funds.
Fred Forson, the group’s spokesperson, addressed the media, explaining that their latest action stems from years of unresolved financial struggles. He emphasized the need for the government’s involvement, expressing that they have exhausted all other avenues.
Forson highlighted that the collapse of Menzgold has led to significant hardship, with investors enduring unbearable financial distress.
Forson revealed a tragic aspect of the situation, noting that 179 of their fellow investors have died while waiting for their money.
Many others, he stated, are living in dire conditions as the years pass with no resolution in sight. The situation has taken a heavy toll on their well-being and livelihoods.
In an emotional appeal, Forson called on President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to personally intervene.
He urged the government to take swift action to ensure the recovery of their investments, stressing that the group’s patience is waning as they continue to suffer the consequences of Menzgold’s collapse.
