In a recent statement, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced significant concerns about the integrity of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) voters’ register as the December 7 elections approach.
Dr. Tanko-Computer argues that the current register is flawed and demands either a forensic audit or prompt corrections to address what he deems as fundamental issues.
Dr. Tanko-Computer criticized the EC for its failure to provide the voters’ register to the NDC in a timely manner before the start of the exhibition exercise. He contends that this delay was intentional and has hindered the party’s ability to thoroughly review the register.
Nonetheless, the NDC’s meticulous efforts during the exhibition have uncovered several critical problems, which, if left unaddressed, could undermine the fairness of the upcoming elections.
Among the issues identified are missing names, the persistence of disqualified voters, and unauthorized voter transfers.
These discrepancies, according to Dr. Tanko-Computer, pose a serious threat to the credibility of the electoral process. He has called for an immediate emergency meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) to address and rectify these anomalies before the elections.
Dr. Tanko-Computer shared these concerns in an interview with Don Kwanbena Prah Jnr on the Morning Drive. He emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for swift action to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process.
