With just three days to Ghana’s general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to uphold its duty of ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election process.

Speaking during a press briefing in Accra, the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, underscored the pivotal role of the EC in safeguarding Ghana’s democratic integrity through neutrality and professionalism.

Alhaji Iddrisu emphasized that public trust in the EC is essential for national stability. He urged the Commission to remain impartial, transparent, and resistant to external influences in all electoral processes.

The Council of Elders also appealed to electoral officials to execute their duties with integrity and commitment to Ghana’s democratic principles. They warned that lapses in professionalism or transparency could tarnish the country’s reputation and lead to unrest. Alhaji Iddrisu reiterated the NDC’s stance on the importance of maintaining peace throughout the electoral period.
