The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally requested the list of security personnel assigned to special duties from the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
In a letter dated July 2, 2024, and addressed to the Chairperson of the EC, the NDC emphasized the importance of this information for ensuring transparency and integrity in the upcoming electoral process.
Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, stated in the letter, “This request is in line with our commitment to ensuring transparency and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, including their imminent Voter Transfer exercise scheduled for July 3 to 5, 2024.”
He highlighted that the presence and deployment of security personnel are crucial for the smooth conduct of elections.
Kwetey assured the EC of the party’s commitment to confidentiality regarding the sensitive nature of the requested information.
“I understand the sensitive nature of this information and assure you that it will be handled with the utmost confidentiality and used solely to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process,” he wrote.
The NDC hopes that by accessing this list, they can better prepare and collaborate with the relevant authorities to safeguard the electoral process.
The party is awaiting a prompt response from the EC to move forward with their preparations.
