Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has denied reports that he has been picked up by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) in connection with allegations surrounding the sale of government-sponsored foreign scholarships.
In a Facebook post , Nkansah dismissed the reports as false, insisting that he had not been arrested or invited by the NIB. He urged the public to disregard what he described as fake news circulating on social media.
His denial follows media reports suggesting that he had been taken into custody by the NIB to substantiate claims he made regarding the alleged sale of overseas scholarships.
Earlier, Dzifa Gunu, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centres Limited, had claimed in a Facebook post that Nkansah was picked up by the NIB after allegedly refusing earlier invitations to provide evidence to support his allegations.
The matter stems from comments made by Nkansah during a radio discussion on Sompa 106.5 FM, where he alleged that individuals paid money to secure government-sponsored scholarships to study abroad, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the process.
Following the claims, President John Dramani Mahama directed the NIB to conduct a full-scale investigation into the allegations. The directive was communicated by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Fosu, who described the claims as serious and of grave public concern.
A formal communication dated February 3, 2026, tasked the NIB with establishing the facts, identifying any individuals involved, and determining the authenticity of the allegations, with findings expected to be submitted directly to the President for further action.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the NIB regarding Nkansah’s arrest or invitation, as investigations into the scholarship claims continue.
