Host of Hot Focal Sports, Ebenezer Amuzu, has said that Hearts of Oak defender Osei Asibey should have earned a call-up into the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
Coach Otto Addo released the Black Stars squad, which omits Osei Asibey but includes players such as Mohammed Salisu of AS Monaco and Alexander Djiku.
Speaking on his show, Ebenezer Amuzu argued that, based on Osei Asibey’s current form compared to Mohammed Salisu and Alexander Djiku, he should have been selected ahead of them.
“Looking at the Black Stars squad, Osei Asibey should have been included. He is far better than Salisu and Djiku currently,” Amuzu stated.
The Black Stars currently top Group I in the African Qualifiers with 15 points after five wins and one loss from six matches.
The four-time African champions face Chad at Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deny Itno on Thursday, September 4, before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
