The Parliamentary Service has announced that the Appointments Committee has commenced public hearings to vet nominees proposed by President John Dramani Mahama for ministerial and regional ministerial positions.

This process is in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

In light of the heightened public interest and the significant turnout at Parliament to witness these proceedings, the Service has emphasized the need to prioritize the safety and security of Members of Parliament, staff, and the general public.

To ensure smooth proceedings, Parliament has decided to restrict physical access to the vetting sessions. Only individuals with valid invitation cards or official accreditation will be permitted entry into the Committee room and Parliament’s premises.

To accommodate public interest, Parliament has partnered with media houses to broadcast the sessions live. The Service encourages citizens to utilize this avenue to follow the vetting process.

The statement, signed by David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, calls for public cooperation in ensuring the successful execution of the vetting exercise.
