The National Peace Council has engaged in discussions with the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the party’s decision not to sign a peace pact ahead of the upcoming elections.

The NDC has voiced concerns that simply signing a peace agreement does not address the underlying causes of electoral unrest, and the party has been steadfast in its refusal to participate until these issues are resolved.

During the meeting, a member of the Peace Council, Mawuvi Bin Salin, highlighted the importance of fostering peace and mutual trust. He stressed that goodwill and cooperation from all political parties are essential in ensuring that peace prevails throughout the electoral process.

The NDC, however, maintains that addressing the root causes of electoral chaos must come before any symbolic gestures of peace agreements.

The discussions are part of ongoing efforts by the Peace Council to ensure a stable and peaceful election, as tensions rise over the NDC’s stance on the peace pact.

The Council remains hopeful that continued dialogue will lead to a resolution.
