A 46-year-old rice farmer, Fuseini Ngelni has met his untimely death after being trampled to death by an elephant in a ferocious attack at Doteli in the Northern Region.
Narrating the sad incident which occurred on Wednesday, August 25,2021 to Nana Ampofo – host of ‘Ay3 Hu’ – a social talk show on Accra-based Hot 93.9FM, an eyewitness by name Saku Nkuni said:
” Yesterday (Wednesday) at around 2pm, Fuseini, a rice farmer , and his friend, on their way to his rice farm saw three elephants so Fuseini who was amazed to see the elephants decided to take a picture of them …While taking the picture, he realised that one of the elephants was coming to attack him so he decided to run but he slipped and fell and eventually got attacked by the elephant”.
Saku Nkuni explained extensively to Nana Ampofo that,” actually, when he fell, the elephant stepped on his tummy and dragged him on the ground with its trunk until he sadly died”.
According to Saku Nkuni, the friend of the deceased raised an alarm ” then the neighbours came around and one of them shot the elephant and also died instantly”.
The deceased, Fuseini Ngelni has so far been buried .
