The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has welcomed the deployment of police patrol teams along a major stretch of the Ejura-Yeji Highway, describing the move as a timely response to growing security concerns.

The road serves as a critical link between Southern and Northern Ghana, supporting the movement of people and essential goods across regions.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Boam inquired from the Minister of Roads and Highways about both immediate and long-term plans to rehabilitate the highway. He emphasized the strategic importance of the road, especially for trade and agriculture, and urged the government to prioritize its maintenance.

The MP expressed satisfaction with the minister’s response and said he expects tangible roadworks to begin soon in the Pru East constituency. He also commended the Minister for the Interior for the swift deployment of police patrols, which have already resulted in the containment of two reported incidents involving unruly individuals.

The improved security along the route is anticipated to enhance safety for commuters and boost economic activity, particularly in the local market areas. Hon. Boam reiterated his hope that decades of neglect would soon be addressed through sustained infrastructure investment and security support.
