The Techiman North District Police have impounded a truck loaded with 2,000 bags of government-subsidized fertilizer allegedly hoarded by local New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials.
The fertilizer, meant for peasant farmers, was reportedly stored at ENCOM Hotel, owned by the father of NPP parliamentary candidate Hon. Martin Oti Gyarko.
According to sources, after the NPP lost power, the fertilizers were secretly loaded onto a truck belonging to the hotel’s owner, purportedly to be sold in Wenchi. However, a swift intervention by the police, with support from National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in Techiman, prevented the alleged sale.
The truck, now parked at the Tuobodom District Police Station, has been held since last Friday as investigations into the matter continue. Authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the incident, including the roles played by key individuals involved.
Police officials have assured the public of a transparent investigation while urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
The case has drawn significant public interest as the community awaits updates on the outcome of the ongoing probe.
