The Alliance of Drivers Ghana has announced a 20 per cent increase in transport fares, set to take effect on Monday, March 17.
Speaking on the decision, the National Public Relations Officer of the group, Kwaku Boateng, cited rising fuel prices, increasing costs of engine oil, and the escalating prices of vehicle spare parts as the reasons behind the hike.
“The 2025 budget came, and we heard nothing about tariff reductions, yet the Finance Minister stood and spoke the whole day,” he stated.
Boateng further pleaded with passengers to understand the situation, emphasizing that the fare increment is necessary to keep transport services running.
“We are going to increase our fares by 20 per cent, and we are pleading with our passengers to bear with us because the price of engine oil and spare parts have all gone up,” he added.
