A Ghanaian doctor at the Anidado Woho Herbal Clinic, Dr. Aki, has made an astonishing revelation: excessive water consumption can damage the kidneys and liver.
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, located below your rib cage on either side of your spine, and are about the size of a fist.
Their main job is to filter waste and excess fluid from your blood, which then leaves your body as urine.
They also help regulate blood pressure, produce hormones, and balance electrolytes and minerals, all crucial for your body’s overall equilibrium.
This vital organ is found in the upper right part of your abdomen, beneath the diaphragm. The liver is essential for many bodily functions, including digestion, detoxifying your body, and storing nutrients. It also plays a role in blood clotting and immune function.

During his health teachings on Hot 93.9 FM’s mid-morning show, ‘Ay3 HU’, Dr. Aki revealed that excessive water consumption can damage the kidneys and liver.
According to the Anidaso Woho Herbal Clinic doctor, many people believe that the more water they drink, the healthier they are.
He, however, cautioned against this, stating, “Drinking excessive water damages the kidneys and the liver… You will see someone saying that he/she drinks one gallon of water a day… and the more you drink water, the more you pass urine. When you urine too much, it weakens the liver.”
Dr. Aki quickly pointed out that, ” If you don’t drink water at all, too, your kidneys and liver will be damaged”
He advised that individuals should consult a physician to determine the appropriate amount of water they should be drinking daily. According to him, this personalised guidance can help prevent unintentional harm to these organs.
