The former MCE for Jaman South under the Nana Addo-led administration, Hon. Andrews Bediako, has made an astonishing revelation that he earned a mere GHC5,000 per month during his tenure.
Speaking as a panelist on Hot 93.9FM’s morning show, Hot Morning Drive – hosted by Don Kwabena Prah said:
“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you my salary as an MCE was GHC5,000. Yes, as an MCE my salary was just GHC5,000.”
When Akufo-Addo took over power as president, one of his initiatives was to reduce salaries of his appointees by 30%.
According to Andrews Bediako, “when President Akufo-Addo said he was going to cut the salaries of every appointed person by 30%, people thought it was just a mirage, but it was a reality.”
The most intense part of the show was when his attempt to publicly display his pay slip was thwarted by the host.
