The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Robert Akator, in connection with the alleged murder of a two-year-old boy at Wli-Afegame in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region.

The suspect was apprehended on September 15, 2026, after the Police received a tip-off that led to the discovery of the lifeless body of the child.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, with the Police working to establish what led to the death of the boy and the possible involvement of the suspect.

In a statement signed by the Volta North Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Kwao, the Command confirmed the arrest and provided an update on the handling of the deceased’s body and the ongoing investigations.

The statement said the body of the child has been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The autopsy is expected to provide further information that could assist investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Inspector Kwao said the suspect remained in police custody as investigators continued their work to establish the facts of the case.

The Police also appealed to members of the public who may have relevant information about the incident to assist investigators by providing credible leads that could help advance the case.

“Members of the public are also encouraged to provide credible information to the Police to support the investigation and enhance public safety.”

It further assured residents that it remained committed to protecting lives, maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety of the public.

“The Volta North Regional Police Command remains committed to protecting lives, maintaining law and order, and ensuring public safety.”
