Founder and Leader of United Front Party Akwasi Addae Odike has vowed to beat President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for allegedly insulting Ghanaians.
It would be recalled that some 80 parliamentarians from the majority caucus on Tuesday, October 25,2022 called on President Akufo-Addo to sack the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and the Minister of State in the Finance Ministry.
They also threatened to boycott the reading of the 2023 budget statement in Parliament if the President fails to comply with their demand.According to them, the move follows previous concerns sent to the government that have not yielded any positive results.
But the president in response has asked for more time for the embattled Finance Minister to conclude negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) before any talks of resignation.
Again, the president, speaking during his tour to the Ashanti Region earlier this month said he is unfazed by threats against him by some residents of Kwabire who insist that they will not vote for the NPP if their roads are not fixed.
The president in response said; “people make those kinds of threats, me, they don’t frighten me. “There is no need for people to say if I do not do it, this or that. That is your own problem. Of course, I will fulfil my promises.
Reacting to these statements in an interview on Hot 93.9FM’s ‘Dwene Ho Biom” political talk show hosted by Agya Wusu, Odike alleged angrily that Akufo-Addo has given the interest of the finance Ministry to Ken Ofori-Atta against the interest of Ghanaians hence he would beat him if he dares meet him in the streets .
According to him, the utterances of the president were needless and uncalled for considering how much he begged Ghanaians in the past for their votes
“Whiles Ghanaians are saying that Akufo-Addo should sack Ofori-Atta ,you’re(Akufo-Addo) also saying because he invested huge sum of money in the Party so you can’t sack him…Ahh, you know something, let me meet you in the street right now …like you would see something, you have surrounded yourself with soldiers so you think you can misbehave..”Odike fumed
Sounding overly disdained, Odike stated that the reason the economy is not progressing is because Akufo-Addo doesn’t comply with his promises.
“You begged Ghanaians to vote for you now you’re insulting us….You make a promise then you flout it…that’s why the economy is in shambles “.
