The Executive Secretary of the Truth and Accountability Forum, TAF, Mr Saka Salia has accused former president John Dramani Mahama of disrespecting the Special Prosecutor Mr Martin Amidu and his office.

Mr Salia’s comments come after Mr Amidu dared the former president to present himself to be interrogated on the Airbus bribery scandal as the former president had called the Special Prosecutor a coward for labelling him as Government Official One (GO1) in the Agyapa corruption risk assessment report.

Mr Amidu in his response said “Your Excellency, the wise and the brave former President John Dramani Mahama, man-up, wise-up, and be brave enough to come with two lawyers of your own choice to be cautioned and interrogated by this Office to demonstrate your valour and wisdom as not being elected Government Official 1 and also as not being the first guarantor to Samuel Adam Mahama’s passport application”.

The seeming banter between the Special Prosecutor and former president John Dramani Mahama appears not to have gone down well with Mr Saka Salia who is asking the former president to be decorum in his comments about the Special Prosecutor and his office.

Speaking to Bonohemaa Serwa Boateng on Hot FM’s midday news, Mr Salia said ,“The office of the Special Prosecutor is a revered office. If you can call such a person without adding anything like Mister and just call him Amidu and use words like coward and stupid against him… I mean it does not speak well of someone who has been president and has occupied every position and wants to be president again”.

Mr Saka Salia also mentioned that former president is giving hints which suggest he will not recognize the office of the Special Prosecutor if he wins the general elections in December.
