Ghana’s former Black Stars B, now Black Galaxies, was kicked out of the 2022 African Nations Championship(CHAN) Tournament by Niger last Saturday hosted in Algeria.
It was quite humiliating after Coach Annor Walker’s boys conceded two goals before the 50th minute, regardless of the players’ tremendous aggression toward the Nigers.
The Black Galaxies possessed 66% of the game even though they were defeated with a shot on target after making 520 passes.
However, some diehard football fans have criticised Coach Annor Walker and his management board for the displeasing performance put by the players while others are calling for a frightening early resignation of the Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku following the country’s displeasing performances internationally.
Ghana’s Black Galaxies were defeated in the Group opening match by Madagascar but managed to grab three points against Sudan while nations in the Group were awarded 3 points each after Morocco exited the competition.
Sudan’s defeat against Coach Annor’s boys was the only win for the Black Galaxies in Algeria.
The defeat also extends Ghana’s inability to win the CHAN trophy to 14 years and makes the second-place finish in 2009 and 2014 her best performance.
Niger’s second win over Ghana at CHAN tournaments enables them to face host country Algeria in the Semi-Finals.
