The Ghana Police Service on Thursday, February 9, 2023, confirmed a fire outbreak at its headquarters in Cantonments, Accra.
Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service are at the scene after a distress call and have successfully controlled the situation.
No casualties have been recorded at the time of this reportage.
The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement on the unfortunate incident.
Speaking to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) at Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO Timothy Osafo-Affum, on the Hot Morning Drive, he also confirmed the incident and urged Ghanaians to call the service in case of a fire outbreak in their abodes and workplaces.
The PRO again cautioned the public against prank calls as it prevents real fire victims from getting necessary assistance from the service.
Meanwhile, a report from gbcghanaonline places the scene of the fire at an office building full of armouries at the National Operations Department of the Ghana Police Headquarters in a Ghanaweb report sighted by Hotfmghana.
Sounds of tear gases were heard during the outbreak according to the report. which took the Fire Service personnel about half an hour to battle the fire.
