Former spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has cautioned on the transitions of Black Stars’ captaincy from André Morgan Rami Ayew to the next player in order to avoid any form of a feud.

According to the broadcast journalist, previous transitions of the captaincy of the senior national team of Ghana brought division between players which eventually negatively affected the progress of the Black Stars.

”Let us be careful Dede’s captaincy transition doesn’t bring us problems, Kwaku Yeboah stated on Peace FM.”

Backing his claim, he narrated that every transition has created a problem.

”From Kwesi Appiah to Abedi Pele to CK Akonnor because Sammy Kuffuor said he doesn’t like it in the 1992 Black Stars campaign, he expressed.”

Yeboah also stressed that captaincy from Asamoah Gyan to Dede  created a problem.

Meanwhile, On 7 August 2007, Ayew was called up for the first time by Ghana coach Claude Le Roy for the team’s friendly match against Senegal on 21 August.

He made his international debut in the match, appearing as a late-match substitute. On 11 January 2008, Ayew was named to the Ghana squad to play in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

In February 2013, Ayew retired from international football after a dispute with the Ghana Football Association.

However, he returned to the team for a World Cup qualifier against Zambia on 6 September.

He then went on to start in both legs of Ghana’s 7–3 aggregate play-off defeat of Egypt to secure qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The current Black Stars skipper is presently 33 years of age and in the twilight to end his International career according to a Ghanaweb report.

Recently, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey captained the Black Stars in their win against Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
