West Ham has signed Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus from Ajax in a deal worth a reported £38 million ($47 million).
The Hammers confirmed this on their website and social media pages.
They outbid some of Europe’s top teams to sign the promising Ghanaian international attacker from Ajax.
Kudus, 23, signed a five-year contract, becoming the club’s fourth major summer acquisition after former Ajax colleague and Mexico international Edson Lvarez, Greece defender Dinos Mavropanos, and England midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
A strong all-rounder and prolific dribbler capable of creating and scoring goals, Kudus has established himself as one of Europe’s most sought-after young players. He has now brought his abilities to the London Stadium.
Speaking, Kudus said, ‘I try my best to entertain the fans, as I think that’s what football is all about.
“I’ve been dreaming of playing in a league like this since I was a kid,” said Kudus, who will wear the No. 14 shirt at West Ham.
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment, and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.
“I try my best to entertain the fans, as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”
