The Senior National team of Ghana, Black Stars, has commenced preparation in the form of training ahead of the 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON).
On New Year’s Day, 14 players led by captain Andre Ayew and also accompanied by other players like Salis Abdul Samed, Gideon Mensah, and Ernest Nuamah, arrived at the Kumasi International Airport in the evening, ready to start camping.
Initially, the team had planned to camp in Johannesburg, South Africa, but, due to public lamentation, Kumasi was declared as the camping residence of the players Chris Houghton had called for the tournament.
Ghana plays Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Egypt of Group B of the 34th edition of the biennial African Association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Ivory Coast.
Coach Chris Houghton has released his 27-team squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations scheduled to kickoff in Côte d’Ivoire on January 12.
