The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched a self-placement system for 12,720 newly qualified teachers who have completed their degree programs at colleges of education and passed their licensure exams.
After issuing an employment invitation on May 11, 2024, the GES received over 20,000 applications from qualified teachers, out of which 12,720 candidates were successfully selected in the initial phase.
These teachers are required to access the GES portal between July 5 and July 31, 2024, to complete the self-placement exercise.
During a press conference held at the GES headquarters in Accra on Thursday, July 4, Director-General Eric Nkansah explained that the self-placement system aims to address various challenges faced by teachers, such as language barriers and financial difficulties.
“The self-posting recruitment model allows newly trained teachers to choose regions where language will not be a barrier, enabling effective teaching and learning environments,” Nkansah stated.
He further clarified the process for accessing the platform and selecting preferred schools, emphasizing that the same platform used for their application will facilitate the self-placement exercise.
