The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has approved the Minority in Parliament’s request to hold the second phase of the #OccupyBoGDemo on July 30, 2024.
The demonstration aims to demand the removal of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, and his deputies.
This decision follows a meeting held on July 16, 2024, between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament and the Police to discuss the protest’s logistics.
According to the Police, the protest will follow a specific route: starting from Obra Spot, moving through Adabraka Farisco, Ridge Roundabout, National Theatre Traffic Light, High Court Complex, branching to Atta Mills Highway, and concluding at the Kwame Nkrumah Museum.
The Police outlined conditions for the protest, including selecting ten protesters to present the petition to the authorities. They emphasized the organizers’ responsibility to ensure the protest remains peaceful throughout.
“The organizers are to take necessary steps to ensure that there is no breach of peace and that protesters conduct themselves in a peaceful manner before, during, and after the event,” the Police Service stated.
