The Kwahu Mpraeso Circuit Court in the Eastern Region has revoked the bail granted to 23 out of 27 suspects linked to the alleged kidnapping of the Kwahu Abetifi chief.
The suspects were remanded into police custody following a court session on Tuesday.
The suspects were initially arrested after violent clashes erupted in the area amid accusations of their involvement in the chief’s abduction. Security forces swiftly intervened to restore order and prevent further violence.
After multiple unsuccessful bail applications, the suspects were granted bail on November 27. However, during their latest court appearance, the judge rescinded the bail terms for 23 of them, citing reasons yet to be disclosed.
