The Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, has refuted claims that the Appointments Committee compelled Oliver Baker Vormawor to apologize during his appearance before the committee.

She stated that Vormawor made the decision to apologize on his own accord, and the committee had no influence over his admission of wrongdoing.

Oliver Baker Vormawor was summoned to appear before the committee following allegations of bribery against its members. During the session, he offered an apology, a move that some interpreted as a way to resolve the issue.

However, Madam Appiagyei emphasized that his apology was voluntary and not a requirement imposed by the committee to settle the matter.

Speaking on The Morning Drive with Don Kwabena Prah on Hot FM, she described reports suggesting that the committee had pressured Vormawor into apologizing as false. She maintained that since he willingly admitted to his actions, the committee had no reason to demand an apology from him.

Many observers had previously speculated that the bribery allegations would not lead to any significant action. Following Vormawor’s appearance and subsequent apology, these predictions seem to have been validated, fueling further discussions on the matter.
