Ghanaian rapper V12 Originator has hit back at popular stand-up comedian DKB, who recently called for a ban on the rapper’s controversial “Tonga” music video.
Released just a week ago, the “Tonga” video has ignited a dissention of debate across social media, leading to ‘clashes’ among various entertainment personalities.
While social media figure Code Micky has publicly endorsed the video and encouraged support for V12 Originator’s artistry, DKB has taken a strong opposing stance.
In a video shared on his social media, the comedian, known for his outspoken nature, did not hold back his disapproval.
DKB, whose real name is Derrick Kobina Bonney, controversially branded V12 Origenator a “porno” artiste. “Ladies and gentlemen, we have another porno artist in town,” DKB lamented in his video. “Lord Paper has now repented—there is a new Lord Paper.”
He went on to offer unsolicited advice to Ghanaian artists, saying, “Eii, Ghana artists, if you want to enter the industry with controversy, come and let me show you how to enter with controversy… But no Porno… V12, if you want to enter the industry, come and let me show you tactics.”
In response to DKB’s pronouncements, V12 Origenator in a viral video refuted the “porno artiste” label.
The “Tonga” rapper asserted that his video merely depicts reality, directly reflecting the lyrics of his song.
He further elaborated on his creative choices, emphasising that the visual narrative is an extension of the song’s message.
