The Office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has firmly rejected claims suggesting he is behind attempts to disrupt the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) preparations for its upcoming National Delegates Conference.
In a statement released on Monday, the office dismissed as “completely false” media reports by portals such as Otecfmghana and GhanaWeb, which alleged that the former president was pushing to delay the July 19 conference or reverse internal party decisions regarding early primaries.
According to the statement, Akufo-Addo has made no such petitions or requests to the party and has no interest in interfering with its processes. It also clarified that the former President has been out of the country and remains detached from the ongoing arrangements.
“Clearly, those behind these publications have an agenda of their own, which has nothing to do with improving the fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” the statement noted, describing the publications as misleading and politically motivated.
The NPP’s National Delegates Conference is still expected to take place on July 19, with no official indication that the reported claims have disrupted its preparations.
