The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will not release the full details of its internal review of the 2024 general election, pointing to the presence of “trade secrets” and sensitive strategies that must remain confidential.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, a member of the party’s Constitutional and Legal Committee, defended the move as standard practice during an interview on Channel One TV. He argued that serious political organizations—both in Ghana and abroad—do not expose internal strategies to the public.
“No, we will not be publishing that report to the general public. Political parties don’t do that because it also contains some trade secrets, sensitive information. So no political party does that,” the Ofoase Ayirebi MP said.
Rather than the full document, the NPP has released a summarized version, which, according to him, captures the key findings and has already begun shaping internal reforms. The party believes the summary strikes a balance between transparency and strategic discretion.
In response to growing criticism that the NPP has not adequately reflected on its defeat, Oppong Nkrumah pushed back, insisting the party has conducted deep introspection. “It is not true that we have not done serious introspection on the report,” he asserted, suggesting that the real work is already underway—just not in public view.
