Akwasi Gyamfi Onyinah Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to implement key flagship policies, such as the 24-Hour Economy, Women’s Banking, and the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP).
According to him, although the much-publicised 24-Hour Economy policy was featured in both the 2025 and 2026 Budget Statements, there is still no evidence of implementation on the ground.
Speaking to Hot FM’s Parliamentary Correspondent, Bonohemaa Serwaa Boakye Agyemang, on the 2026 Budget, the MP accused the government of deceiving Ghanaian youth with promises of jobs under a proposed three-shift, 24-hour work system, noting that “nothing has materialised.”
“Ghanaians were told that the 24-hour policy would create massive employment, but till now no single structured programme has been rolled out,” he lamented.
Touching on illegal mining, Hon. Acheampong accused the NDC of politicising the galamsey debate while in opposition, only for the situation to worsen under the current administration.
He admitted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) performed poorly in mining communities during the last elections, attributing it to what he described as “lies told by the then-opposition NDC about galamsey.”
