Parliament is set to resume sittings on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic officially begins after the Christmas recess ended the First Session in December 2025.
Ahead of the resumption, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business has held a series of engagements with Ministers of State to review government business and align legislative priorities for the new parliamentary session.
The House is expected to consider a number of bills, ministerial statements on pressing national issues, and questions directed at Ministers as part of its business for the session.
Key among the matters scheduled for deliberation are issues relating to illegal mining (galamsey) and the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly known as the Anti-LGBT Bill, which is anticipated to spark intense debate on the floor of Parliament.
The Second Session is expected to play a critical role in shaping legislative outcomes and national policy direction as Parliament continues its work under the Ninth Parliament.
