Speaking at the State of the Nation Address (SONA), President John Dramani Mahama said his government focused on strengthening the cedi, not arresting the dollar, to make it competitive with major world currencies.
He described Ghana’s recent economic turnaround as a “robust growth plan,” highlighting key drivers behind the growth. “Ghana’s economy has surpassed the 100 billion cedi mark, placing it among the best in the world,” he said.
President Mahama credited initiatives such as the Goldbod program, stopping smuggling, and improving competence across sectors for this performance.
