Veteran reggae/dancehall artiste Sugar Ranking has made an astonishing revelation that Stonebwoy will beat rival Shatta Wale to become the first Ghanaian to bring home a prestigious Grammy Award.

While a Ghanaian musician is yet to secure a coveted trophy from the Recording Academy, Sugar Ranking believes Stonebwoy holds the secret formula to making history.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hot 93.9FM’s Hot Weekend Jam with host DJ Lord Dash, the “Where Is Your Daddy” hitmaker expressed confidence in Stonebwoy’s international trajectory—even placing him ahead of his own Grammy ambitions.

“Even though I am also looking at winning it, I think Stonebwoy will be the first to win it,” Sugar Ranking stated.

When pressed directly on who would claim the prize first between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, Sugar Ranking didn’t hesitate: “Stonebwoy will win.”

Breaking down his reasoning, the veteran artiste pointed out a key distinction in their musical styles. He argued that the Grammy Academy leans toward melodic versatility rather than raw, traditional dancehall grit—giving Stonebwoy’s vocal-heavy approach a distinct advantage.

Sugar Ranking added that Shatta Wale’s style lacks the melodic depth required by the Academy. “You can’t win a Grammy with hardcore dancehall…Stonebwoy does a lot of singing, and that will help him win ahead of Shatta Wale.”

Sugar Ranking, who is regarded as one of the greatest Reggae/Dancehall artistes Ghana has ever produced, is out with his single track dubbed ‘No Pressure’. The song is currently enjoying massive airplay.
