Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun attended the funeral service for veteran actor Olu Jacobs on Friday in Lagos.
The service was held at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, where family, friends, colleagues and dignitaries gathered to bid farewell to the late Nollywood icon.

Also in attendance was singer Dare Art Alade, who performed “Pray for Me,” a collaborative song with Jacobs and Joke Silva.
The late actor’s son, Olugbenga Jacobs, presented his father’s biography at the event.
The funeral follows a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs held on Wednesday at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island.
The tribute night drew Nollywood stars, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Funke Akindele, Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, Hilda Dokubo, Rita Dominic and Segun Arinze, who shared memories of Jacobs’ influence on their careers and the industry.

Known as the “Lion of Lufodo,” Jacobs’ career spanned more than five decades.
Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, he worked in British theatre and television before becoming one of Nigeria’s most respected actors.

Together with his wife, Joke Silva, whom he married in 1989, he co-founded Lufodo Group and Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.
He was conferred with the national honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2011.
Jacobs died on September 16, 2026, at 84.
