On Friday, 2 June 2023, the chiefs and residents of Nogokpo in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region issued a 14-day ultimatum to Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder and leader of Perez Chapel International, to engage in peace talks.

The Archbishop, in a sermon to his congregation, described the Volta-based town as the demonic headquarters in the Region after he recounted an incident where his team received spiritual attacks for hosting a crusade. This description led to the wrath of the traditional council of the area.

“During this crusade in Aflao, we slept at Agbozume, that was where our hotel was, and you must go through Nogokpo. And Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters in the Volta Region.

“We only have not said it but the second night I made Bishop Yaw Adu talk about witchcraft and we disgraced the witches and wizards.

” When we were driving from Aflao to Agbozume, immediately we got to Nogokpo, Bishop Yaw Adu’s four-wheel drive, the tire came out from under the car,” Agyin-Asare recounted while preaching to a huge congregation.

Archbishop Agyinasare clarified that his comments were not intended to demean any specific town or its residents. He explained that his remarks were meant to illustrate the principle of divine protection to his congregants.

Yet, the chiefs expressed disappointment that the man of God showed no remorse for his comments, which the chiefs interpreted as an intentional effort to tarnish the reputation of the people of Nogokpo.

Also, the chiefs emphasized that Nogokpo should not be perceived as the headquarters of wickedness or evil in the Volta Region, noting that the town has a rich history, including being visited by Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who sought divine assistance from the thunder deity, Torgbui Zakadza during the independence ‘fight’ with the British.

However, the countdown to the 14-day Ultimatum ends today, Thursday, 15th June 2023, hotfmghana has learned.

Meanwhile, the National Peace Council in a press release, stated that it has commenced a process to broker peace between the traditional leaders of Nogokpo and the founder of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare.
