Residents of Ofankor-Kasoa, a suburb in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, joined the Boundary Chief of Awutu Traditional area, Nai Kwabena Atopi I in celebrating the Awubia festival. The festival is honoured by the people of Awutu Traditional Area in Awutu Bereku in the Central Region of Ghana.
During the celebrations, the boundary chief sprinkled kplekple, a kind of food eaten by the Gas during their ‘Homowo’ festival. Homowo means to hoot at hunger. History states that they used to be Guans under the ruling of King Tackie Tawiah I of the Ga traditional state.
The chief commented on the court’s ruling over the Kasoa lands that belonged to the Awutus. He said the Fete Kakraba and Amanfrom wanted to take their lands from them. He added that they would make an appeal to the supreme court over the ruling in the video below.
Also, NDC embattled Member of Parliament for Assin North, Hon James Gyakye Quayson graced the occasion as a guest. He stated that Ghana needed honest people to lead the country, also, ”we don’t need to beg the government to do projects because it is their responsibility”. He described those politicians who fail to fulfil their promises as liars.
The Director of Communications at the Office of the Presidency, Eugene Arhin has charged the Awutu and Senya Traditional Council in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region to maintain their peaceful relationships which have been in existence. He believes that is the only way to enhance development within their traditional area. According to him, without peace, no community can develop.
He added that the government will continue to enhance development within the Awutu Senya West District which has already commenced. The Director urged the people of Awutu to have faith in the NPP government when it comes to development in the area. He made this known to Hot news during his keynote address at the 2022 Awutu Awubia Festival Celebration as chairman of the occasion.
Finally, the Boundary Chief of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Kwabena Atopi (I) delivered a speech on behalf of Omanhene of Awutu, Traditional Area Nai Agyemang Whytteh Otabil (III). He spoke on the rise of teenage pregnancy issues in Bereku and its surroundings. Advise was given to students to desist from such acts and focus on their studies.
He also called on all persons of Awutuman to come together and fight for development.
