The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has expressed gratitude for the European Union’s (EU) ongoing support in enhancing Ghana’s security infrastructure.

This support includes providing equipment and training for security services, offering capacity-building programs, and aiding in border management.

Quartey emphasized the importance of international cooperation in tackling security challenges and highlighted Ghana’s commitment to deepening collaborations with the EU on various projects.

During a meeting with EU Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly, Quartey discussed the EU-funded Multi-Country GAR-SI approach (GAR-SI) project, the mint.gov.gh reports.

This initiative aims to boost civil security and stability in the Sahel and West Africa.

The Minister acknowledged the project’s alignment with Ghana’s goals to improve security effectiveness and expressed appreciation for the EU’s involvement.

Ambassador Razaaly lauded Ghana’s dedication to the GAR-SI project, noting that it reflects the government’s efforts to enhance national security.

The meeting ended with both parties agreeing to explore further collaboration and capacity-building opportunities under the GAR-SI initiative, reinforcing the strong ties between the EU and Ghana.

The discussions underscored the robust partnership between the EU and Ghana in promoting peace, security, and development.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together on projects that strengthen Ghana’s security framework and contribute to regional stability.
