A seven-member government delegation is reportedly set to visit the Ndewura Sumali Jakpa Palace on Wednesday to advocate for Damongo MP and Lands Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor.
The team includes Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Interior Minister Henry Quartey, and Chieftaincy and Culture Affairs Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng, along with other key officials.
Their mission is to request leniency from Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the Gonja Kingdom’s overlord, who recently banned Jinapor from all palaces following youth protests in Damongo.
A source at the Jakpa Palace confirmed the visit, stating, “Yagbonwura has given his approval and is awaiting their arrival.”
Previously, Muslim Clerics from Buipe visited Yagbonwura to seek forgiveness for the Damongo MP.
The atmosphere in Damongo remains tense with ongoing suspicion and anger within the chieftaincy and political circles.
