The Accra High Criminal Court One has dismissed a bail application brought before it by two persons suspected to have murdered Nana Ndoli Panyin lll, Baamuhene of Kramokrom in the Western North region and former Finance Manager at Hot FM.
The court presided over by Ruby Naa Ayele Quaye in her ruling said that the argument by the lawyer for the suspects, JK Yeboah that his clients are innocent cannot be accepted since the case has not been tried yet to determine who is innocent or guilty.
Hot FM’s News Editor, Philip Mawuli Tetteh who was in court reports that the judge in refusing the bail also mentioned that granting of bail is at the discretion of the court but the state attorney has demonstrated that the case is a serious one.
She therefore refused the suspects bail. Kwame Ofori aka Ogyaba, a 29 year old pastor of Divine Prayer Camp at Saapeman and Nana Kwame Kwakye, a 64 year old spiritualist of Asuboi in the Eastern Region, have been charged with conspiracy to commit to murder and murder.
Lawyer for the suspects, JK Yeboah had argued in court that his clients are innocent of the charges and have nothing to do with the murder. According to him, the two were not anywhere near the hotel at Kaneshie where the murder took place. He added that his clients are responsible citizens with wives and children.
He prayed the court to grant the suspects bail as he mentioned that their health condition was deteriorating. The state attorney on her part asked the court to dismiss the bail application. She told the court that the suspects do not have a fixed place of abode which is evident on documents before the court.
She added that the suspects cannot say they are innocent since the case has not been heard yet to determine who is guilty or innocent. The AG further prayed the court to dismiss the application because in her view it was premature taking into cognizant the fact that investigations are still on going.
