“While filming our documentary I visited Prampram, the birthplace of my grandfather, Joseph Cecil Ofuatey-Kodjoe. Hosted and accompanied by Chief Nene Annorbitettey Mansro, I was welcomed by my local extended family and presented with an honorary Chieftaincy by the Paramount Chief of Prampram, Nene Tetteh Wakah, a moment I will never forget.”

He said the experience had reinforced his enduring connection between ancestry and identity.
“The power of ancestry reaches beyond generations and across oceans,” he added.
The honour marks a significant moment in Boris Kodjoe’s continued connection with Ghana and his family heritage.
The actor, who rose to international prominence through roles in films and television series including Soul Food, Brown Sugar, Resident Evil and Station 19, has frequently spoken about his Ghanaian roots and his connection to the country.

His visit to Prampram offered a more personal encounter with that heritage, taking him to the birthplace of his grandfather and into the community from which his family traces its roots.
