The Member of Parliament for Kumawu and Chairperson of Parliament’s Human Rights Committee, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, is participating in a high-level parliamentary capacity-building programme in Ottawa, Canada, aimed at strengthening legislative oversight and effective governance.
The programme brings together legislators to equip them with practical knowledge, strategic insights and analytical tools to enhance parliamentary oversight, public policy engagement and constituency representation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the programme, Hon. Anim said the training would strengthen his ability to better serve both Parliament and the people of Kumawu Constituency.
“I look forward to applying the knowledge and experiences gained to enhance my service to the good people of Kumawu Constituency and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.
According to the Kumawu MP, the exposure will enhance his understanding of parliamentary best practices and improve his contribution to legislative scrutiny, policy development and oversight responsibilities.
The programme forms part of ongoing international efforts to build the capacity of Members of Parliament, enabling them to effectively scrutinise government policies, engage stakeholders and deliver responsive representation to their constituents.
Hon. Anim expressed optimism that the lessons and experiences gained in Ottawa would contribute to strengthening parliamentary democracy and improving governance outcomes in Ghana.
