Ghana’s proposed national airline has received a positive preliminary assessment, with aviation giant Boeing expressing its commitment to support the country’s efforts to re-establish a national carrier.
The development follows a meeting between President John Dramani Mahama and officials of the American aerospace company, which is providing technical support for the project.
A roadmap for establishing the airline has been agreed, covering the identification of strategic and technical partners, acquisition of an Air Operator Certificate, fleet selection and financing arrangements.
The Boeing delegation also assured President Mahama of its continued support throughout the establishment and operational phases of the proposed airline.
President Mahama has previously expressed optimism that Ghana will have a national airline in operation before the end of his tenure in January 2029.
