Prampram [Gbugbla], a coruscating coastal community in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, reverberates with the tempo of industrious life and a deep-seated cultural heritage.

Among the many commendable individuals who call this town home, Asafoatse Lartey Bantama IV is a pivotal figure, a beacon of progress and unity.

The title of Asafoatse carries consequential weight within the traditional structure, designating him as the war leader and custodian of the community’s defence and well-being.

For Lartey Bantama IV, this is not merely an inherited honorific but a living allegiance he embodies with steady dedication. His leadership extends far beyond ceremonial duties, deeply impacting the daily lives and prospects of the people of the Larkpleh community in the Ningo-Prampram District.

Indeed, Asafoatse Lartey Bantama IV, who took over the reign in 2021, has become synonymous with self-help development within the community.

Recognising the potential within his people and understanding their needs firsthand, he has consistently championed initiatives driven by local resources and collective effort.

His influence has been instrumental in tangible progress, from the construction of vital infrastructure to the establishment of community support systems.

One notable example is the revitalisation of the main lorry station, where he spent over GHC400,000.00 to renovate it.

Through communal labour and locally sourced materials, the station was transformed into a vigorous and functional space, boosting the local economy and fostering a renewed sense of pride.

His adherence to education is equally profound. Recognising that the future of Prampram [Gbugbla] lies in the hands of its youth, Asafoatse Lartey Bantama IV has been a driving force behind improvements in local schools.

He has facilitated partnerships with local businesses to provide resources, advocated for better facilities, and even personally mentored young individuals, instilling in them the values of hard work and civic responsibility.

As a committed fish farmer, he places great importance on the welfare of local fishermen. During the Kplitso Homowo festival, he sponsors a spirited competition involving thirteen teams of fishermen, who exhibit their skills and artistry to the delight of the entire community.

Beyond tactile projects, Lartey Bantama IV fosters a spirit of unity and collaboration within the community. He actively mediates disputes, ensuring peaceful resolutions and strengthening social cohesion.

His wisdom and even-handed approach have earned him the respect and trust of people from all walks of life. He understands that true progress is not solely measured in infrastructure but also the strength of a community’s bonds.

Meet Lartey Bantama IV, the Asafoatse of Prampram [Gbugbla] in the Greater Accra Region – a leader who doesn’t just hold a title but actively shapes the destiny of his people through tireless dedication, a vision for progress, and an unhesitating belief in the power of community-driven development.

He is a profound manifestation of the sagacious impact a dedicated traditional leader can have on the well-being and prosperity of their people.
