The National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Rex Omar, head of its manifesto on Culture, Arts, and Tourism, has pledged to use these sectors to create more jobs for Ghanaians if elected in the December general elections.
The party believes that the creative arts and tourism industries hold significant potential for employment if properly nurtured.
In an interview on Hot FM’s Dwene Ho Biom show with Agya Owusu Ansah, Rex Omar outlined the NDC’s vision to transform these sectors and provide much-needed jobs, particularly for the youth. He emphasized that the country’s rising unemployment could be tackled effectively with a stronger focus on developing local creative talent and tourism.
Rex Omar also expressed concern about the growing trend of foreign content dominating Ghanaian television, which he believes has harmed the local creative arts industry. He stressed that this situation has undermined job creation within the sector and called for a reversal to promote homegrown content.
The NDC’s manifesto details a comprehensive plan to revitalize Culture, Arts, and Tourism, ensuring that these sectors become key drivers of economic growth and job creation under their leadership.
